Fully-restored 1905 villa with original character but all the modern comforts, in a private urban setting. Hosted specialty accommodation comprises two spacious queen-size guest rooms with their own well-appointed bathrooms, and access to shared or private living areas - as preferred. Suitable for singles or couples on business travel, holiday stop-over or just wanting a quiet weekend getaway. Interaction is as much or as little as guests prefer. ​Relax in front of the cozy log fire with a book or board game, or watch TV before retiring to warm comfortable bedrooms, and then awake to a continental or cooked breakfast in the sunny dining room or outside on the deck. ​​Evening meals  (with limited set menu) utilising fresh local produce, may also be available with sufficient advance notice.

​Pukepapa Lodge is a gracious 113-year-old villa with period architectural features, set in half an acre of lawns and garden. There are outdoor seating areas on the north-facing sun-drenched verandas, rear deck (with barbecue) or grounds.
Relax with a book or magazine from the wide selection available - or enjoy a glass of wine, inside or outside, in serene surroundings.
​​Pukepapa Lodge may also be available as an exclusive  venue for small catered functions.

Amenities:

  • Two warm comfortable private boutique guest bedrooms with quality queen-size beds and bedding. Both north-facing sunny bedrooms have their own adjoining private bathrooms with all modern comforts. An infinity gas hot water system provides unlimited hot showers and baths. 
  • Insulated throughout to create a warm - or cool in summer - relaxing space ... whatever the season. Wood-burning fireplace heats the whole house through a heat-exchange system in the cooler months, along with additional heat pumps in shared dining room and hallway areas, as well as individual heaters in both private bedrooms and bathrooms.  
  • Pukepapa Lodge has many areas which can be shared or private. Guests have access to the more formal sitting room (with fireplace, TV with Netflix, stereo, CD and DVD players), sunny dining room/family room (with free wifi and convenient computer desk) and country kitchen (for tea or coffee-making and snacks) or outdoor seating areas on north-facing sun-drenched verandas, rear deck (with BBQ) or grounds. Relax with a book or magazine from the wide selection available - or enjoy a glass of wine, inside or outside, in serene surroundings.
  • ​There is also a fully-equipped office available for business travellers, with good cell phone coverage and a free wireless connection throughout the property. Business rates available.

Only a few minutes off New Zealand's North Island State Highway 1 between Auckland and Wellington, Marton is centrally situated only 2 hours from Taupo and the Central Plateau, and Palmerston North. Hawke's Bay is also easily accessible over the scenic Inland (Patea to) Taihape to Hastings Heritage Trail. Marton is also only a few minutes off the State Highway 3 route through the Taranaki and  Whanganui regions leading to  the Manawatu and lower North Island.
Pukepapa Lodge is set in a quiet safe neighbourhood with large garden and grounds surrounding the lodge, creating that relaxed get-away-from-it-all ambiance. The tree-lined streets of Marton are graced with beautiful character buildings, homes and gardens, with pockets of vintage cottages and villas within easy walking distance of the town's CBD.
It is less than a 1 minute drive to local supermarkets and shops, cafes, restaurants and schools, as well as being close by the emerging heritage towns of Bulls, Sanson, Feilding, Hunterville and Taihape, with their variety of boutique shops and eateries in a country atmosphere, with local antique, historic homes architecture and garden tours.
